The Day Out Program program is for adults of all ages.

People who …

  • need supervision due to fall risk or wandering as a result of dementia.
  • are homebound due to a short- or long-term health problem.
  • would like to make friends.
  • want to spend time away from home.
  • are looking for a variety of activities in a safe, cheerful environment.
  • wish to extend the time they can live outside of a long term care facility.

We provide transportation

Our wheelchair accessible van is available for all participants.

Location

Lower level of Betty Ehart Senior Center, 1101 Bathtub Row.

Hours

Our regular hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Extended hours are available to accommodate working caregivers.

Activities

We start our day with a healthy, protein-rich breakfast; we also have lunch together. We spend our time playing games, doing trivia, reading the paper, doing puzzles, exercising, playing music, and visiting the farmer’s market. We also go on day trips around Los Alamos and Northern New Mexico.

Suggested Donation

The suggested donation for participants 60 or older is $7/hour

Daily schedule:

Daily schedule: 7:45—10:00 = Breakfast/conversation

Breakfast always includes eggs and either bacon or sausage, plus toast/English muffins with real butter and jam or jelly, juice, and coffee. We have available cream of wheat and/or oatmeal; on occasion we make French toast, pancakes, and even buckwheat pancakes.

10:15-11:15 Main activity for the day

11:15 = Armchair exercise

12 Noon= Lunch as listed

12:30= small group games/ movie—Friday Movie is @ 12:30

2:00—snack and social  small group games

2:30 get ready for those who ride Senior bus home

2:40 Bus ride /home

3:30—5:00 Happy Hour  games/fun exercise!
